For decades, ex-government agent Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader, “The Office,” “Boston Legal”) has been one of the FBI’s Most Wanted fugitives. Brokering shadowy deals for criminals across the globe, Red was known by many as “The Concierge of Crime.” Now, he’s mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer: He will help catch a long-thought-dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani, under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone, “Law & Order: Los Angeles”), an FBI profiler fresh out of Quantico.

For Liz, it’s going to be one hell of a first day on the job. What follows is a twisting series of events as the race to stop a terrorist begins. What are Red’s true intentions? Why has he chosen Liz, a woman with whom he seemingly has no connection? Does Liz have secrets of her own? Zamani is only the first of many on a list that Red has compiled over the years: a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. He will help catch them all… with the caveat that Liz continues to work as his partner. Red will teach Liz to think like a criminal and “see the bigger picture”… whether she wants to or not.

“The Blacklist” also stars are Diego Klattenhoff (“Homeland”), Harry Lennix (“Man of Steel”), Ryan Eggold (“90210”) and Ilfenesh Hadera (“Da Brick”). Writer Jon Bokenkamp (“The Call,” “Taking Lives”), John Eisendrath (“Alias”), John Davis (“Gulliver’s Travels,” “Predator”) and John Fox serve as executive producers. The pilot was directed by Joe Carnahan (“The A-Team,” “The Grey”). “The Blacklist” is a production of Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment.

At the start of the panel, the Arrow team unleashed an action-packed, cinematic trailer-style highlight reel offering fans a first look at footage from upcoming episodes of the breakout hit drama. The exclusive sneak peek not only features guest stars Jamey Sheridan (Robert Queen), Seth Gabel (The Count), Colton Haynes (Roy Harper) and more, but also includes glimpses of Oliver’s escalating struggle against “The Undertaking” — and wrangles of another sort with Laurel Lance.

The FoF participated in a conference call interview with the stars of Continuum; Rachel Nichols and Victor Webster and Simon Barry, Executive Producer and Creator. . Continuum airs on Monday nights @ 8/7c on Syfy.  The Continuum season finale is March 18.

Question: I just want to say that I really have enjoyed this first season of Continuum and can't wait for season two.

Question: No problem. It's just a great show. Do you have any particular favorite moments from this past season that you would like to talk about?

The FoF participated in a conference call interview with John Noble from Fringe. The  two-hour series finale-two-episodes event airs Friday, Jan. 18 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. This milestone date will also celebrate the series’ 100th episode.

Question: We love the show and Walter.  It seems like it’d be really fun to play him.  He does so many crazy things and has so many idiosyncrasies.  What’s your favorite Walter moment?

J. Noble: Which is my favorite, Walter really, because I’ve played a bunch of different versions of him.  Gee, I don’t know.  I loved it when he was being random, which was probably the original version of him more than anyone else.  I loved doing Walter then and all of the different mental states that we’ve played in during the time, but when he was being completely random and had very poor social skills. 

Recently, we chatted with our friend, Honorary FoF member Katie Findlay.  You will remember Katie as Rosie Larsen on the AMC series, The Killing.  Katie will next be seen on the new CW series, The Carrie Diaries as Maggie Landers.  We stole a lot of Katie’s time and to do her and her fans justice, we are going to split this interview up.  This interview focuses on the series wrap-up of The Killing and what to expect for The Carrie Diaries.  Part two will focus on comics, Star Wars/Disney, comic book movies and The Walking Dead.  The remainder of the interview will be posted after The Carrie Diaries premieres on the CW, Monday, January 14th 8/7c.  Welcome to Katie's Corner.

Every year we are extremely fortunate to be invited to Syfy’s annual Digital Press Tour. This year was no different.  We never know in advance where it will be held or who we will be seeing.  In 2010 & 2011, the tour was held at Universal Studios in Orlando.  We loved going out there and seeing everyone and it always nice to see fellow journalist that we may not see in a year.  We did think that Orlando would be the place for 2012 and we couldn’t be more wrong.  This year the event was held in Toronto, Canada to visit the sets of Warehouse 13 & Defiance (premiering Spring 2013).  As many of you know we have done set visits in Canada before, but this is the first time heading to Toronto.
 
We were given an all access pass on both sets, including video.  It is very rare to go to multiple sets AND be given free reign.  What all happened and how did it start.  Here is the chain of events.

FoF- Is it safe to say that this Beauty & the Beast is a remake/reimagining of the 80’s show?

I'll start out by saying that we were fans of Justin Hartley's portrayal of Green Arrow in Smallville.  However, Stephen Amell's Arrow takes the cake. I have to admit that I went into this with expectations that I would not approve of Amell as The Arrow or the modernized story line. However, within the first five minutes of the pilot I had forgotten Amell had not always played this role and found myself not only pleasantly surprised by his character portrayal but also by how well the story was written.

“It’s all gonna turn off. It’s gonna turn off and it will never, ever turn back on” Imagine a life of no motorized transportation. Instant distance communication is but a pleasant dream. Television, radio, phones,internet and cooling units is not only out of reach but out of reality. This is what viewers are forced to experience in the just the first episode! The fact that one can remember the familiarity of such common day luxuries and not be able to practice them again is just plain torture.  This series, if written well will force us into facing our real life’s nightmares.

Mixed-Media Animated Comedy Series Debuts on DVD August 28, 2012, While Season 2 Premieres on Cartoon Network this Summer

This summer, schools may be on vacation but the laughs sure aren’t as Cartoon Network brings to DVD an all-new world of unimaginable hilarity with its newest comedy release, The Amazing World of Gumball “The DVD” DVD. Packed with 12 episodes from series’ first season – including the titular episode “The DVD” – and a character gallery special feature, the compilation DVD follows the misadventures of 12-year-old Gumball. By all accounts, his world is pretty run-of-the-mill, as long as you think a blue cat with a giant head (Gumball) being chased around school by a T-Rex (Tina), befriending a piece of toast (Anton), hard-core crushing on a girl peanut with antlers (Penny) is normal! Marking the ratings-hit series’ home entertainment debut, The Amazing World of Gumball “The DVD” DVD will be available on August 28, 2012 for the suggested retail price of $14.97 and the order date of July 31, 2012.

Question What made you want to be a part of the television version of this?  We know you starred in the film version. 

Jennifer We had sort of joked around when we were doing the movie about how fun it would be to sort of turn this into a series and really get in deeper with the lives of the women in the spa and everything.  So when the movie did really well, I talked it over with everybody and said let’s pitch it and see what they think and here we are.

We had the chance to participate in a conference call chat with Danny Glover, to talk about the premiere of Touch debuting on FOX.  Touch premiers on Thursday, March 22nd after American Idol at 9/8 Central on FOX.

Series Comes to TBS from Wild West Picture Show Productions, In Association with Warner Horizon Television

TBS has given the greenlight to the new comedy series Sullivan and Son, starring popular comedian Steve Byrne and executive-produced by Vince Vaughn (The Break- Up), Peter Billingsley (Iron Man) and showrunner Rob Long (Cheers). Byrne also serves as producer on the series, which comes to TBS from Vaughn’s Wild West Picture Show Productions, in association with Warner Horizon Television. The pilot was co-written by Byrne and Long, with Ted Wass (Rules of Engagement) directing. TBS has ordered 10 episodes of the series, which is slated to premiere this summer.

After much deliberation, the producers of House M.D. have decided that this season of the show, the 8th, should be the last.  By April this year they will have completed 177 episodes, which is about 175 more than anyone expected back in 2004.

One of our favorite things to do from the FoF is to get to bring to you a look inside at our favorites.  This is one of those times.  We recently had the opportunity to sit down with two of the stars of the hit web series Shelf Life, starring Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt.

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 22, 2011) – Lifetime has renewed its hit scripted series Drop Dead Diva for a fourth season, to premiere in 2012, with a 13 episode order.  The announcement was made today by Nancy Dubuc, President and General Manager of Lifetime Networks.

PANEL: Maybe you could tell us initially what inspired you to take a role where you are kind of like the big heavy?

PATRICK JOHNSON: How is everyone?

PANEL: Good, how are you?

PATRICK JOHNSON: Freaking fantastic.

PANEL: So, maybe you guys can talk a little bit about your characters because what we’ve seen so far is mostly the pilot and today’s little glimpse of you guys performing and it seems like you guys are really rebellious children.

PANEL: Can you tell us about the genesis a little bit?

CRAIG SHAPIRO: Sure, that’s good.  Okay so, it’s based on . . .let’s say inspired by, rather than based on, its inspired by a true story, I don’t know if you know that.  There is a real Dr. Donna Dannenfelser who was therapist for the Jets in the 90’s.  And we were put together with her and we thought, I even said this, it’s a story about a therapist and she wants to get her story told and we were like, we’ll have a meeting.  She was one of the most amazing people that I have ever met.  We had a three hour meeting in a coffee shop in the valley and when we left there, we were like this it is, this is the one.  We have to do this story.  She is so compelling as a character and she has so many stories that were just hilarious and moving and we just thought oh my god, there’s so much story material here.

Up until now, I’ve not seen any episodes of Men of a Certain Age due to my schedule and lack of a DVR.  I know, I know, I get gasps every time people find out I don’t have a DVR).  Even though I didn’t begin at the beginning of this show (I began with this season which is its third), the story and the acting are strong enough to not only make you want to see the episode through, but continue watching the show from here on, not to mention seeking out seasons one and two.  The characters are engaging and performed so well that you empathize with all of them from the start.

The FoF has just returned from the set of Necessary Roughness.

In its latest high-profile acquisition, TNT has secured the exclusive off-network cable rights to the hit series, Castle, from Disney-ABC Domestic Television.  Castle, which just completed its third highly rated season on ABC, is a crime drama starring Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Desperate Housewives) and Stana Katic (Quantum of Solace, TNT’s The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice). Castle (seasons 1 & 2) will begin airing on TNT in summer 2012. As part of TNT’s TV Everywhere rollout, Castle will also be available for online viewing through mobile phones, tablets, computers and other devices.

One of the great things about the FoF is the fact we have great writers.  While I have chosen not to personally go into the Two & Half Men situation, two of our writers have.  Here is their opinion and theory of the situation and what they expect to see next season. 

Unless you are living in cave, by now you know Charlie Sheen has been replaced by Ashton Kutcher on the hit CBS show Two and a Half Men. Sheen had a perfectly sweet gig, playing himself and getting boat-loads of cash to do it; but his off screen antics were his downfall.  Two and a Half Men worked because of the ensemble cast. This is what made the show work.  Sheen however, was the anchor of the show. Charlie Harper, the cigar smoking, scotch swilling, hooker loving jingle writer was the main character. It was his house that was invaded and his life that was thrown into turmoil by his brother. Once you take the Charlie character out of the picture the concept of the show just doesn’t seem so amusing. As much as I like Jon Cryer there is no way he is going to carry the show. Charlie is the character you envy. He is rich, good looking and has sex with beautiful women. Who wouldn’t want that? Alan (Jon Cryer) has money issues, is awkward, pathetic and a failure with women; he is 68% of all men out there; who would want to be him? Hell, even I am Alan. I hate to admit that but it is true. I would rather be Charlie.

For the seventh straight year, a field of 64 of the world’s elite poker players will go head-to-head in some of the most aggressive poker playing around. Filmed in Caesars Palace Poker Room in March, the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship is a ‘who’s who’ from the poker world.  The tournament has a unique, single-elimination, bracket-style format modeled after college basketball tournaments, except that the finals are a best of three.

Last season, Nancy and the Botwin family spent the season on the lam after Shane bopped Mexican VIP Pilar to death with a croquet mallet. In the finale, a major airport showdown with Esteban and Guillermo landed Nancy at the wrong end of an FBI dragnet, where she confessed to killing Pilar. Question:  For Alphonso, what do you like best about playing Cash, and how much like your character are you?

Alphonso McAuley: Let’s see. I like that Cash is quirky and he’s a nerd, and also he’s a Fanboy. Those three things are pretty cool because they’re different from other characters that I’ve played before. And so I kind of - I get to have fun with that you know.

Marcel Vigneron: So this show has actually been maybe like three years in the making. And when I was living in Las Vegas I was approached by two different producers to start working on my own show, wrote up a couple of treatments and found a production company to help us create it.

Just one year since the demise of former fan favorite, Heroes, NBC is venturing into the realm of the superhero again this time with a show called “The Cape.” David Lyons stars as Vince Faraday a police officer turned superhero to fight the corruption in the fictional town of  Palm City. Forced to taken on the mantel of the comic book hero, The Cape, Faraday must join a band of thieves to become the ultimate crime fighter. 

As you may remember, the FoF was invited last year to visit the set of two shows from our great partners at the USA Network.  We spent one day on the set of Psych and another day on the set of a  new show called Facing Kate (Fairly Legal).  Since that visit we haven't spoken about Facing Kate (Fairly Legal) until now. 

Facing Kate is now known as Fairly Legal and it debuts on Thursday, January 20th at 10/9c.  We were very lucky while out there and not only watched some filming but had the chance to sit down with the cast of Fairly Legal and with the Fairly Legal creator and producer Michael Sardo. 

Since we have so much to cover before the premiere on January 20th.  For our first part we will focus on our time with the Fairly Legal creator and producer Michael Sardo. Please keep in mind we had just seen the pilot and some of the questions do focus on what we have seen.   

 On our next show we will be giving you a spoiler free sneak peek at two new shows on Showtime and one returning show.

AMC released today the key art for its upcoming original drama "The Walking Dead," which premieres Halloween night, October 31 at 10pm/9c.

Executive produced and written by three-time Academy Award nominee Frank Darabont, “The Walking Dead” tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse.

TNT is ordering a second helping of its hit series MEMPHIS BEAT, starring Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) and Alfre Woodard (Three Rivers).  TNT has ordered 10 episodes for the second season of the series, which also stars DJ Qualls (Hustle & Flow).  The show is slated to return in 2011.

MEMPHIS BEAT premiered June 22 and quickly established itself as one of the summer’s hottest shows.  In its first season, MEMPHIS BEAT averaged 4.7 million viewers and ranked as one of ad-supported cable’s Top 5 new series of the summer and the #1 Tuesday series among adults 25-54.  MEMPHIS BEAT was created by Liz W. Garcia (Cold Case) and Joshua Harto (The Dark Knight).  The series comes to TNT from George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures and Warner Horizon Television.

 NEW YORK – September 9, 2010 – The highly anticipated return of Syfy’s critically-acclaimed series Caprica will come even sooner than anticipated.  The second half of season one will now premiere on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 10:00PM ET/PT, the channel announced today. Fans will no longer have to wait until January to watch the series exciting kick-off, as the citizens of Caprica deal with the chaotic aftermath of the mid-season finale’s harrowing events.

TNT and TBS are going into production on four series pilots, including projects from such successful producers and writers as Dean Devlin (TNT’s Leverage and The Librarian movie trilogy); Marco Schnabel (TNT’s The Librarian movie trilogy); Kenneth Biller and Mike Sussman (Star Trek: Voyager); Allan Loeb (The Switch, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps); and Cynthia Cidre (The Mambo Kings, A Killing in a Small Town). 

TNT has lined up pilots for a pair of unique crime procedural pilots, PERCEPTION (working title) and an untitled Allan Loeb project.  The network is also moving forward on a pilot for DALLAS, an updated version of the classic TV series.  Meanwhile, TBS has a pilot in the works for BRAIN TRUST (working title), a comedic detective series.
