The one thing we enjoy covering on the FoF are the 3D home movie releases. We know there are those that think 3D is a fad and will eventually go away. I believe the same thing was said about TV back in the day too, coincidence? We don’t think so. We have to admit, when we hear a studio is rereleasing a classic and/or bigger release movie in 3D, we get nervous. However, we should remember that studios like Disney and Lucas Film have been very successful rereleasing and Fox is no different with its 3D rerelease of Titanic.

April 5, 2012 – New York, NY – The Weinstein Company (TWC), aided by the guidance and consultation from attorneys David Boies and Ted Olson, announced today that the MPAA has lowered the R rating, given for some language, for BULLY to a PG-13 in time for the film’s April 13th expansion to 55 markets. The scene that has been at the forefront of the battle with the MPAA, the intense scene in the film that shows teen Alex Libby being bullied and harassed on a bus, has been left fully intact and unedited. BULLY director Lee Hirsch felt editing the scene was not an option, and subsequently refused to do so, since it is too important to the truth and integrity behind the film. Also a victory is the exception the MPAA made by allowing the film to be released with the new rating before 90 days, which is the length of time their policy states a film must wait to be in theaters after a rating change to avoid confusion or inconvenience for moviegoers.

Disney Magic? Why yes, thank you. I believe I will. And boy does this release of Tangled deliver. The animation is beautifully done, the characters are realistically animated (with large anime style eyes) and the storyline provides just enough humor to keep you entertained while the legendary Disney story takes hold of your heart.

BioWare and FUNimation Entertainment Sign Anime Movie Deal for Award-Winning Dragon Age Franchise
Anime Leader to Create Home Video Adaptation of Award-Winning “Dragon Age”
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Jun 7, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) –BioWare(TM), an Electronic Arts Inc. (Nasdaq:ERTS) studio, and FUNimation Entertainment, the leading distributor of Japanese animation in North America, announced today an agreement to create an anime feature film adapted from BioWare’s critically-acclaimed fantasy Action RPG franchise Dragon Age(TM). Production of the Dragon Age anime movie is slated to begin this month with a home video release in 2011. Executive producing the film are BioWare’s Executive Producer Mark Darrah and Creative Director Mike Laidlaw, as well as FUNimation’s president and CEO Gen Fukunaga and Director of Original Entertainment Chris Moujaes.

Where the Wild things are is a creative yet realistic imaging of the children's book by the same name. Spike Jones did well to weave a tale that speaks both to adults as well as children. At this point in my film watching career I've been wise not to try to draw the film to book comparisons. However in this case I feel the feeling and overall tone of the original book from my childhood has been well translated. This film has been a long awaited dream of Tom Hanks' to put forth on the big screen, and I say it was well worth the wait. Though keep in mind this is not your typical children's film. This film breathes life into the border between our imagination and reality, a concept that I haven't seen properly achieved in a children's film since Labyrinth.
